Toronto Angel Group Angel Investor Network
Angel investing has long been an important source of financial support and mentoring for new and growing businesses bridging the gap between individual (friends and family) and institutional venture capital rounds of financing. Over the past several years, Toronto Angel Group and this sector of the private capital market has been formalizing in response to both growing demands and complexity.
Toronto Angel Group - Since 1990 the Toronto Venture Group has been bridging the gap between entrepreneurs and capital through communication, education and networking. In order to better serve the specific requirements of the private investor community, TVG developed the Toronto Angel Group (TAG) initiative in the fall of 2001. TAG is a member-based organization which offers a forum for Angel investors to increase their exposure to quality, pre-screened investment opportunities and expand their network of like-minded investors.
TAG also provides qualified entrepreneurs the opportunity to approach a community of active investors. Entrepreneurs are invited to apply for consideration to present at an upcoming Investment Dinner by submitting a completed application available from the Entrepreneurs page. If the firm is deemed investment-ready and likely to be of interest to the membership by the screening committee, the entrepreneur is given an opportunity to present to an audience made up exclusively of angels.
Angel investors are crucial to the growth of a healthy economy. Angels typically make investments earlier in the development of a company than venture capital providers. They are also able to provide experience in business operations, industry knowledge and contacts. Angel investment can positively influence the growth of a company with more than just money.

Ontario Angel Networks are as unique as the private investors that make them up. Toronto Angel Group is a group of accredited investors (sophisticated investors) who get together to review companies for potential investment. The investments can be made by accredited individuals belonging to the Ontario network or by the network itself as a limited partnership.
Some angel networks charge a fee to the entrepreneur for the business plan to be reviewed, or for an in-person presentation to be made to the "angels" group and other angel networks don't.

- The growth of venture capital funds and the attraction of venture investing
- The volume of deal flow.

Most groups, including Toronto Angel Group (Toronto Ontario) develop their own organizational structures and processes independently.
